-It was the Thunder’s second straight win. Kevin Durant led the team with 29 points and 6 rebounds. Russell Westbrook added 14 points and 10 assists. It was Wesrbrook’s 14th consecutive game with at least 7 assists, the third longest streak in the NBA.
-Kevin Durant plays like a man. That’s the only way to describe some of the stuff he does, which is surprising seeing that he came into the league under much speculation for being the only member of his draft class to not be able to bench press 185 pounds. ESPN has begun to call him Durantula but I think the Thunder play-by-play voice Brian Davis came up with a more appropriate nickname- the Junkyard Dog.
-I don’t want to speak for every point guard in the league but I would find it hard to believe any of them can drive the lane and get to the rim like Russell Westbrook can. He is still working on certain areas of his game but his strength and speed is remarkable and the Toronto Raptors got a heavy dose of that tonight.
-The Toronto Raptors aren’t much without Chris Bosh. They have no interior presence and Hedo Turkoglu doesn’t fit into the Toronto system as well as he did in Orlando. Too bad BoshIs all but gone to free agency after this season.
-The key stretch tonight came mid way through the third quarter. The Thunder lead was at nine when Russell Westbrook drove to the right side of the lane and was fouled while the same time dropping the runner. He went to the line and completed the and one. Then a few baskets later Kevin Durant grabbed a rebound went the length of the floor to about the right elbow and made a leaner while being fouled in mid air. The lead was now 19.
-OKC is now a half game back of fifth place after the Phoenix lost to San Antonio. Found it interesting that Jason Richardson, the player that made the game winner against the Thunder on Tuesday night, missed a dunk in the final minute that would have tied the game.
